Kesäpäivän viettoa - Spending a summer day

Sunnuntai oli ainakin Mortin mielestä huippupäivä: ensin se pääsi juoksemaan vinttikoiraradalle "pupun" perässä ja vähän illemmalla vielä uimaan. Se rrrrrakastaa noista kumpaakin!

// Sunday was at least in Mortti's opinion a very good day: first he was allowed to chase the prey on the sighthound track and later in the evening he could go swimming. He simply loves the both!

Sunnuntaina oli siis kevätkiihdytyskisojen aika. Perinteisesti meidän koirat ovat osallistuneet keväisin kaikkien rotujen maastojuoksukisoihin ja syksyisin radalla käytäviin kiihdytyskilpailuihin, mutta tänä keväänä maastojuoksukisoja ei ollut :( Mutta koska Ronja ja Tito olivat sopivasti meillä käymässä, päätimme lähteä käyttämään koiria radalla.

// So on Sunday it was time for the sighthound racing on the track for all breeds. Traditionally our dogs have participated in this event in the autumn and lure coursing for all breeds in the spring but this spring there was no lure coursing :( Because Ronja and Tito were at us we decided to take dogs to the competition.

Alunperin otimme mukaamme Yodan, Leyan ja Titon, koska ne juoksivat samassa sarjassa. Ensimmäisenä radalle kirmasi meidän koirista Tito. Tai ei se kirmannut. Ei se ensin huomannut koko viehettä. Huusin Ronjalle, joka odotti maaliviivalla, että huutaa Titolle ja niin Tito lähti juoksemaan. Vieheenvetäjä jatkoi myös vieheen vetämistä ja kyllähän Tito lopulta vieheen perään hyvin kirmasikin. Se tarvitsee tässä lajissa vain harjoitusta :)

// Originally we took Yoda, Leya and Tito with us because they participated all the same class. First one on the track of our dogs was Tito. He just did not notice the prey and did not either know what to do. Then Ronja shouted at him from the finish line and the prey started to move, too and he chased the lure in a good way. He just needs a bit practise :)

Seuraavana vuorossa oli Leya, jo vanha tekijä. Leya juoksi hyvin ja varmasti viehettä seuraten. Myös se rakastaa tätä :) Yodan vuoro oli meidän koirista viimeisenä. Se lähti myös vieheelle todella hyvällä vauhdilla, niin, että tanner ihan tömisi. Tai ainakin sellainen "tap tap tap" -ääni kuului (ehkä tuollainen vajaa 8 kg painava koira ei saa tannerta tömisemään, vaikka haluaisikin).

// Leya was next one of our dogs. She already knows the thing. She ran well and followed the prey very beautifully. She also loves that :) Yoda was the last and went off with good speed. When she ran I heard a sound coming from her paws :)

Yleisen sarjan palkinnoille meidän koiramme eivät yltäneet. Mutta alle 40 cm korkeista villakoirista Leya oli kaikkein nopein. Vautsi vau, hienoa Laltsukka. Yodan aika oli 8,61, Leyan 7,91 ja Titon 8,41.

// Our dogs were not fast enough to reach the podium among all the dogs but Leya was the fastest of the poodles under 40 cm high. Wow, well done, Laalaa.

Jumituimme Ronjan kanssa kisapaikalle ja päätimme ex tempore, että Morttikin osallistuu kisaan. Onneksi koti on vain kulman takana Virpiniemen vinttikoiraradalta, joten Ronja jäi ilmoittamaan Morttia ja minä kurvasin hakemaan sen kotoa. Kylläpä Mortti oli onnellinen päästessään radalle! Se eteni vuoroaan odotellessaan lähinnä kahdella jalalla pomppien. Se juoksi intopiukeana pätkänsä ja tappoi asiaankuuluvasti pupun. Ei Mortin aikakaan riittänyt yleisen sarjan palkinnoille, mutta yli 40 cm korkeiden villakoirien sarjassa se oli toinen, heti loistavan ajan tehneen isovillakoira Bellan jälkeen. Mortin aika oli suunnilleen 7,76 (Bellan aika n, 6,5 sekuntia).

// Me and Ronja stayed at the track longer than we had thought and decided suddenly that also Mortti will take part in the race. Luckily our home is located just nearby the track and I could pick up Mortti with the car while Ronja registered him to the race. Mortti was really happy when he came to the track. When waiting for his turn, he just moved by jumping on hindlegs. He ran his track extremely eager and killed the rabbit as it was meant. His time was neither good enough for a placement among all the dogs but he was second of the poodles over 40 cm high after Bella the standard poodle who ran splendid time.

Ratakeikan jälkeen pakkasimme Ronjan kanssa kaikki koirat Yodaa lukuunottamatta autoon ja ajoimme nk. Ulmajan montuille. Siellä saimme seuraksemme Gita-koiran ja melko sovussa viisi villakoiraa ja Gita uiskentelivat. Pimun toki piti pikkuisen Gitaa koetella. Kaikki koirat menivät veteen innolla, ja uivat kuka enemmän ja kuka vähemmän. Mutta myös nyöriturkit kävivät ihan kunnolla uimassa. Ja -tsalalalaa - niiden turkit olivat jo seuraavana päivänä itsestään kuivaneet! Loistavaa! Aiemminhan Hessun turkin kanssa on ollut ongelma juuri kuivamisen kanssa. Siitä ei sitten puhuta, paljonko puudelilauma uimareissulta toi hiekkaa sisään :)

// We packed the dogs except Yoda to the car and drove to a place where dogs are allowed to swim. There we got company of a dog called Gita and quite peacefully all the dogs swam together. Though Pimu of course had to tease or test Gita a bit. The dogs went all eagerly to the water and swam. Also the corded ones. And surprisingly their coats were dry on the next day! Splendid! Earlier we have had problem with getting Hessu dry. The amount of the sand which a pack of poodles carried in after swimming is not wort mentioning :)

Tänään kävimme Leyan kanssa kaupungilla. Ai että pikkukoira oli reippaana siellä. Pari kertaa piipahdimme Stockmannilla, käveleskelimme Rotuaarilla ja torilla. Emmekä tietenkään voineet jättää matkamuistokuviakaan ottamatta :)

// Today I went to the city with Leya. She was very brave there. We visited the department store Stockmann couple of times and walked around the centrum of Oulu. And of course we could not miss taking some souvenir photos :)

Pikkutytöt Kiihdytyskilpailuissa - Little girls playing sighthounds

Tänään oli jo perinteisten kaikkien koirarotujen syys-kiihdytyskilpailujen aika. Meiltä kilpailuihin osallistuivat pikkutytöt eli Leya ja Pimu. Leya kilpaili pienten koirien (säkäkorkeus alle 40 cm) sarjassa. Ja hienosti kilpailikin ;) Leyan aika noin 80 metrin matkalla oli 8,49 sekuntia. Tätä kirjoittaessani Leyan sijoitus yleisessä sarjassa ei ole tiedossa, mutta villakoirien tuloksissa se oli 2.! Tätinsä Tatsin ja serkkunsa Uikun välissä ;) Kaikkiaan villakoiria osallistui tähän sarjaan kuusi kappaletta.

// Today there was the traditional sighthound race for all breeds at the stadion nearby. We took the little girls there, in other words Leya and Pimu. Leya took part in the class for small dogs (height under 40 cm). And she did it fine. Her time in about 80 metres was 8,49 sec. I do not know her placement in the generall class but among the poodles she was 2nd! Between her aunt Tatsi and cousin Uikku ;) Alltogether there were six poodles competing in this class.

Pimu osallistui isojen koirien sarjaan (säkäkorkeus yli 40 cm). Pimu juoksi Leyaa nopeammin, itse asiassa se taisi olla kaikista paikalla olleista villakoirista nopein. Sen aika oli 7,76 sekuntia. Pimunkaan sijoitus yleisessä sarjassa ei ole tiedossa, mutta ainoana villakoirakilpailijana se oli tietysti isojen koirien sarjan villakoirista ykkönen. Alla kuva Pimusta villakoiramitalinsa kanssa.

// Pimu participated in the class for large dogs (height over 40 cm). She ran faster than Leya, actually I suppose she was the fastest poodle competing today. Her time was 7,76 sec. I do not know her placement in the general class either but as the only poodlecompetitor she was of course the first of the poodles. In the picture beneath is Pimu with her poodlemedal.

Minulle tänä vuonna uutta oli se, että kisoihin osallistujat saivat koiriensa maalikamerakuvat muistoksi kilpailusta. Tosi hauskaa!

// It was new for me this year that the participants got the pictures of their dogs at the goal line. That was nice!

Villakoirat vinttikoirailemassa - Poodles playing sight hounds

Viimein eilen saimme aikaiseksi lähteä läheiselle vinttikoiraradalle koirien kanssa harjoittelemaan vieheen perässä juoksemista. Mukaan otimme nuorimmat koirat eli Leyan ja Pimun. Leyahan teki debyyttinsä vieheen kanssa keväisissä kaikkien rotujen kiihdytyskilpailuissa, ainoa kerta, että se on elämässään vieheellä juossut. Pimu oli silloin juoksussa eikä ollut koskaan nähnyt viehettä ennen eilistä. No, hyvin tyttäret juoksivat, täytyy sanoa. Niin hyvin, että järjestäjät olivat Makelle, joka koiria radalle kuljetti, erikseen maininneet, että kannattaa osallistua kaikkien rotujen kiihdytyskilpailuihin lokakuussa. Toki olemmekin tuonne menossa, täytyy vaan nyt toivoa, että nartut eivät aloita juoksuja juuri pahasti tapahtumaa ennen.

// Finally yesterday we went to the greyhound racing track, which is really near us, to train some lure coursing with our dogs. We took the youngest ones with us, that means Leya and Pimu. Leya had run on the lure once before, it was in the spring when there was an unofficial race for all breeds. Pimu had never seen a lure before. Well, the girls ran very well. That well that the arrengers even mentioned to Make who took the girls on the track that in October they'll have again an unofficial race for all breeds. We are going to participate that if the girls are not in heat then.
