Hyvää Ystävänpäivää - Happy Valentine's Day

Hyvää Ystävänpäivää kaikille blogin lukijoille! Toivotamme sitä tällä kertaa keskariperheemme kuvalla. Kiitos Sarylle loistavasta kuvasta.

Vasemmalla istuva Mortti-isä vietti perjantaina 11-vuotissyntymäpäiviään Ronjan hellässä hoivassa pizzan merkeissä. Tänään "kaksosemme" Leya (istuu tuolissa) ja Tito (makaa tuolin edessä) täyttävät 5 vuotta. Onnea, kullanmuruset! Viisi vuotta sitten meillä elettiin jännittävää päivää! Onnea myös sisarussarjan kolmannelle koiralle Mimmille sinne, minne kaikki meiltä poisotetut hyvät koirat (ja ihmiset?) menevät. Ehkä Mimmi ja Hessu ovat taas yhdessä, kuten silloin viitisen vuotta sitten. Koiraperheen äiti Yoda (seisoo oikealla) juhlii 8-vuotis syntymäpäiviään sitten huhtikuussa.

Dad Mortti, who is sitting on the left, had his 11th birthday at Ronja's and he celebrated it with a pizza. Today our "twins" Leya (sitting on the chair) and Tito (laying in front of the chair) have their 5th birthday. Happy Birthday, sweeties. Congratulations also to the third sibling Mimmi to the place where all good dogs (and people?) who have been taken away from us go. Maybe Mimmi and Hessu are there together now, as they were about five years ago. The mother of the dog family Yoda (standing on the right) has her 8th birthday in April.

Kolmiviikkoiset hunnit - Three-week-old huns

Tänään oli taas "perinteinen" hunnien kuvauspäivä. Tai, no, tulee noita muulloinkin kuvattua, kuin viikkoispäivänä, mutta koska aika on rajallista, blogiin päätyy vain pienen pieni murto-osa kuvista. Toissa päivänä hunnit saivat kauloihinsa väripannat, joten vastedes ne saattaa erottaa kuvista (myös) niiden perusteella.

// Today it was time for the "traditional" photo shooting of the huns. Actually, we take lots of pictures of them and neaerly every day but because of the lack of time, only a few photos end in this blog. Two days ago we put collars on the huns so ever since it might be easier to recognize them.

Ensi viikko onkin pennuilla sitten jo täynnä kaikenlaista tapahtumaa. Pentuaitaus on tarkoitus purkaa tai laajentaa (lähes) koko huoneen kokoiseksi, viikonlopun tienoilla pennut saavat maistella ensimmäisiä kiinteän ruuan annoksiaan (aloitetaan lihalla) ja ne saavat myös matokuurit. Alkuviikosta tehdään naamoihin konetyöt ja loppuviikosta sitten alkaakin tulla vieraita käymään katsomassa kullannuppujamme. Tai no, on täällä jokunen tuttu henkilö jo vieraillutkin, mutta ensi viikosta alkaen sitten on kalenterissa jo useampia vierailumerkintöjä.

// It will happen a lot to the puppies next week. We are going to take away or at least expand their puppy cage (to almost the whole room), about in the weekend the puppies will taste "real" food (we'll start with meat) and they will also be dewormed. In the beginning of the week their noses will be groomed and from the end of the week on they will have several visits.

Hunnien kaksiviikkoiskuvat - The pictures of two-week-old huns

Hunnilaumamme täytti viime yönä kaksi viikkoa, joten oli taas aika ikuistaa sen jäsenet kuviin. Vähän hunnien juhlimista varjostaa Hessun äkillisesti huonontunut kunto :( :( :(

// Our pack of huns is two weeks old now, so it is time to publish their new pictures. Our celebration of huns is, though, disturbed by Hessu getting worse very suddenly :( :( :(

Alruuna on osoittanut melkoiseksi matamiksi; sekä minä että Make olemme yllättäneet sen komentamassa muita pentuja sydämensä kyllyydestä. Eilen se murisi toisille ja antoi niille selkään sen minkä tuon ikäisen pennun motoriikalla pystyy. Tänään se piti muille komentoa niin, että muut olivat siistissä rivissä ja Alruuna istui rivistön edessä komentamassa.

// Alruuna has shown strong temperament; both me and Make have seen her commanding other puppies. Yesterday she growled to others and beat them as much as it is possible with her coordination. Today the others were in a neat row and Alruuna was sitting in front of the others and giving commands.

Kaikki pennut yli puolikiloisia - All the puppies weigh over 500 g

Eilisillan punnituksessa kaikki pennut olivat ylittäneet puolen kilon rajan. Ja Riesu, tuo nopeista nopein, jo 600 gramman rajankin. Keveimpänä syntyneen Huiskin voisi ennustaa tuplaavan painonsa tämän illan punnitukseen mennessä, muilla siihen mahtaa mennä päivä kauemmin.

// When weighed yesterday evening all the puppies had passed the limit of a half a kilo. And Riesu, the fastest of all, even the limit of 600 g. I could tell that Huiski, which was born as the lightest, would double her weight before weighing tonight. I suppose it takes a day longer for the others.

Eilen kaikki aikuiset koirat lenkkeilivät "kunnolla". Aamulla Yoda ja Leya pääsivät irroittelemaan ja juoksemaan vapaina. Hessu oli mukana samalla lenkillä, mutta sitä ei enää uskalla päästää irti, ettei se eksy. Hessuhan ei juuri kuule mitään, eikä näekään enää kovin hyvin, joten kontaktin saaminen siihen kauempaa, on mahdotonta.

// Yesterday all our grown-up dogs had proper walks. In the morning I let Yoda and Leya run free. We had Hessu with us but because he doesn't hear and has a poor eye-sight I do not dare to let him run free. He could get lost because it is impossible to get any contact with him from the distance.

Parhaat kaverukset // The best buddies

Eeva käväisi kylässä ja hänen lähdettyään Pimu teki tupatarkastuksen ja halusi lenkille. Se johdatti minut ja mukanamme olleen Hessun hyvin määrätietoisesti reitille, jossa koirat ovat saaneet juosta vapaina. Ihan niinkuin se olisi sanonut, että haluaa olla vähän aikaa koira, eikä koko ajan vain äiti. Annoin sen juosta vapaana. Tänä aamuna kiersimmekin Leya seurassamme sitten lenkin pidemmän version mamma-koira vapaana juosten. Kuva eilisiltapäivältä.

// We had a visit yesterday and after that Pimu checked the house and wanted to have a walk. She led me and Hessu very purposefully to a route where the dogs have run free. As if she had wanted to say that she wants to be a dog for a while instead of being a mum all the time. I let her have her freedom. This morning I made even a longer walk with Leya and Pimu and the mum could run free again. The picture below is from yesterday.

Huomenna täytyykin sitten ottaa jo pentujen 1-viikkoiskuvat! Varsinaisestihan ne täyttävät 1 vko torstaita vasten yöllä, mutta torstai on touhua täynnä (mm pakko mennä töihin), joten sen varaan ei voi laskea, että silloin ehtisi.

// Tomorrow we will take pictures of 1-week-old puppies. They have their birthday in the night towards Thursday but our Thursday is so full of action (for example I have to go to work) that I won't count on having time then.

Ronja kävi toissa päivänä tervehtimässä meitä ja pupseja. Käytimme tilaisuuden hyväksemme, kuvasimme kaikki pennut sekä pohdimme niille "pentunimet", eli nimet millä me niitä käsittelemme, että tiedämme kenestä on puhe jne. Tässäpä toimintamme saldoa. Pennut tullaan jatkossakin pääsääntöisesti esittelemään syntymäjärjestyksessä, niin tässäkin.

// Ronja visited us and the pups two days ago. We took lots of photos of the puppies and stormbrained their puppynames, the names with which we recognise them and know of which puppy we are talking about. Here are some results of our "working". Also in the future I will introduce the puppies in the birth order, like here.

1. syntynyt uros sai pentunimen Norriska, eli tältä siis vaihtui nimi :) Syntymäpaino 335 g, eilen illalla 423 g. Norriska on merkitty päälaelle.

// The 1st born male was given the puppyname Norriska, so we changed his name :) His birth weight was 335 g and yesterday evening 423 g. I've marked Norriska on the head.

2, syntynyt narttu sai pentunimen Punurmio. Syntymäpaino 367 g, eilen illalla 450 g. Punurmio on merkitty vasempaan korvaan.

// 2nd born female was named Punurmio. Her birth weight 367 g, yesterday evening 450 g. Punurmio is marked on the left ear.

3. syntynyt narttu sai pentunimen Huiski. Syntymäpaino 300 g, eilen illalla 417 g. Huiskilla on merkki oikeassa korvassa.

// 3rd born female got the puppyname Huiski. Her birth weight was 300 g, yesterday evening 417 g. Huiski has a marking on the right ear.

4. syntynyt narttu sai äänenkäyttönsä takia pentunimen Alruuna. Syntymäpaino 363 g, eilen illalla 448 g. Alruuna on merkitty lapojen väliin.

// 4th born female gained the name Alruuna because of her way of using her sound. Her birth weight was 363 g, yesterday evening 448 g. Alruuna has markings between her shoulders.

Alruuna on päätähtenä myös eilen illalla pentulaatikosta kuvaamassani videossa. En jaksanut leikata videota, mutta videon loppupuolella on selkeästi kuultavissa Alruunan ääninäytteitä. Noin se kiljui myös välittömästi synnyttyään.

// Alruuna is a head person also on the video I took yesterday night of the whelping box. I did not bother to edit it but there are Alruuna's sound samples to hear at the end of the video. That is how she yelled straight after her birth, too.

Vielä on kuvin esittelemättä pentueen viimeisin, muttei todellakaan vähäisin jäsen eli 5. syntynyt uros, joka sai pentunimen Riesu. Riesu syntyi pikavauhtia (yksi työntösupistus) eikä sen vauhti ole hidastunut yhtään. Eilen se mm. kiipesi pentulaatikossa Pimun selän päälle ja ennen kuin ehdin ottaa kädessäni olleella kännykällä kuvan, se jo tippui Pimun toiselle puolelle. Riesun syntymäpaino 356 g ja eilen se jo rikkoi puolen kilon rajan eli painoi 502 g. Riesulla on merkki pyllyn päällä.

// And yet there is still the last but not the least member of the litter to introduce, the 5th born male which got the puppyname Riesu. Riesu was born very quickly (one push) and his speed has not decreased at all. For example yesterday he climbed on Pimu's back and before I had taken a picture of him there with the cell phone in my hand, he had fallen to the other side of Pimu. Riesu's weight at birth was 356 g, yesterday evening 502 g. Reisu has been marked above his butt.

Ehkä tarkimmat huomaavat pentunimissä tietyn teeman. Samaa teemaa Ronja ideoi myös pentujen virallisiin nimiin, mutta minulla on eri teema mielessäni. Eli, kuten A-pentueen pennutkin, nämä pennut tulevat saamaan kirjaimella alkavat viralliset nimet (B), mutta nimillä on myös yhteinen teema.

// There is a certain theme in the puppy names, which opens for at least some Finnish readers. Ronja would have named the puppies also officially with that theme, but I have another theme on my mind. So, like the puppies of the A-litter, these puppies will get names beginning with the letter (B) but the names will also share a theme.

Tilannekatsaus - What is going on?

Lauantaina pidimme tupaantuliaiset meitä katastrofin aikana auttaneille ihmisille. Kiitos ihanat ihmiset, jotka tulitte paikalle! Oli aivan ihanaa nähdä teitä kaikkia! 

// On Saturday we had housewarming party and had invited people who helped us during the disaster. Thanks a lot all you lovely people who came to us! It was just great to see all of you!

Meidän uusi kotimme // Our new home

Tupareiden yhteydessä Pimun maha sai kokeneilta koiraihmisiltä huomiota osakseen ja useampi oli sitä mieltä, että se on iso. Hups! Painoa Pimulle oli eilen kertynyt noin 2,5 kiloa lisää astutusta edeltäneeseen painoon ja sen maha kasvaa kilpaa ruokahalun kanssa. Kieltämättä maha on ainakin sen verran kasvanut, että pitää jo tosissaan alkaa suhtautua pentujen syntymään. Eilen sitten kävimme hakemassa Pimulle pentulaatikon. Vähän maalia laatikko kaipaisi, mutta muuten sekä pentujen isoisä että emä totesivat laatikon käyttökelpoiseksi.

// During our party people who have more experience of breeding dogs, mentioned that Pimu's belly is big. Oops! Yesterday we weighed her and until now she has gained 2,5 kilos. Her belly grows together with her appetite - and now we have to take her pregnancy really seriously. Yesterday we got her a whelping box. It would need a little paint but otherwise both the grandfather and the mother of the puppies accepted it.

Viime viikolla madotin kaikki koirat. Leya meni ripulille ja oli tiistaina ihan kipeän oloinenkin. Leyahan sairasti viime keväänä kunnolla ja pelkäsin, että sama alkaisi uudelleen. Mutta tällä kertaa kipuilu meni nopeasti ohi ja loppuviikosta Laltsukkainen yritti haastaa kaikkia muita koiria leikkimään kanssaan. No, lauantai-iltana veli-koira kävi sitten Leyaakin metsässä juoksuttamassa.

// Last week all the dogs were de-wormed. Leya had some problems with that and was quite sick on Tuesday. Leya was really sick last spring and this time I was afraid it would start again. But luckily the pain was over quickly and at the end of the week she tried to get all the other dogs to play with herself. And finally on Saturday-evening she had a pleasure to run with her brother in the woods.

Muuten menee kaikki omalla painollaan, mutta Yoda on joulun aikana palaamassa takaisin meidän laumamme kokoonpanoon, mikä ei ajankohdallisesti ole paras mahdollinen, koska Yoda ja Pimuhan eivät tule toimeen keskenään. Mutta Yoda ei ymmärrä omaa parastaan, vaan aina kun Reetta on pois kotoa, Yoda ulvoo minkä kurkusta lähtee - ja Yoda on opettanut myös Kyltsi-kissan huutamaan kanssaan. Ihmeen pitkämielisiä Reetan naapurit ovat olleet ja jotta saamme edelleen pidettyä katon Reetan pään päällä, Yodan on muutettava takaisin meidän kattomme alle.

// Otherwise life goes as usual but Yoda will return to our pack at Christmas. Not the best timing because Yoda and Pimu don't get along. But Yoda doesn't understand her best but always when Reetta is away she howls as loudly as she can - and she has also taught the cat Kyltsi to howl with her. Reetta's neighbours have been very tolerant and to keep roof over Reetta's head also in the future we have to take Yoda back under our roof.

Laatuaikaa // Quality time

Tänään vietin laatuaikaa isän ja pojan kanssa - siis Mortin ja Titon. Osallistuin kummankin kanssa OKK:n järjestämiin epävirallisiin agilitykisoihin. Olin lähdössä karkeloihin Mortin kanssa, mutta kun Ronja ihan pienesti yllytti, ilmoitin myös Titon sinne :) Ei me kummankaan kanssa mitään voitettu tai edes tulosta saatu, mutta hauskaa oli ja se oli pääasia. Ja vaikka ei tulosta saatukaan, niin kummankin radassa oli paljon hyvää eli olen kyllä tyytyväinen. Vähän toki vanhaa (eli minua) koeteltiin, kun pantiin juoksemaan kahden koiran kanssa peräkkäin niin, että välissä oli vain neljä muuta koirakkoa :) Oikeastaan harmi, ettei tullut pyydettyä ketään videoimaan ratoja, olisi ollut kiva katsoa miltä meno näytti. Titon kanssa olin treenannut ennen epiksiä ehkä neljä pätkää, Mortin kanssa toki enemmän.

// Today I had quality time with the father and the son - meaning Mortti and Tito. We went to an unofficial agility competition. First I thought of participating with Mortti but after Ronja pushing me just a little I took also Tito there :) We did not win with either, nor got a result but we had fun and that was the only thing that mattered. And though we did not get a result, there was much good in both courses so I am happy and satisfied. Actually it is a pity that I did not ask anyone to record our courses, it would have been fun to watch them afterwards. I had trained with Tito previously only about four short courses, with Mortti more.

Ennen ja jälkeen kisan isä ja poika kävivät kirmailemassa vapaina Haukkiksen lumisissa maastoissa ja hauskaa oli - sitä laatuaikaa siis. Niin laadukasta, että kun palasimme kotiin, Mortti oli aivan kierroksilla ja pääsi ihan yksikseen oleilemaan koirahuoneeseen, eli sillekin tuli vihdoin käyttöä :)

// Before and after the competition the father and the son ran unleashed on snowy fields and had fun - that's quality time. That qualitative that as we came home, Mortti had still too much energy and spent a while alone in the dog room, so finally we had use for it :)

Pimulla on tiineyttä takana nyt 5 viikkoa (4 siis jäljellä). Maha näkyy jo selvästi, ainakin kyljellään maaten. Pimun turkin sisältä mahaa on vaikeampi havaita.

// Pimu has now passed 5 weeks of pregnancy (4 weeks left). We see her tummy clearly, at least when she is lying on the side. When standing her coat hides it still.
